* w& K) Y' r6 umeeting on Thursday 21 February 2008 to provide essential information to help students transition
3 j8 i* S% R2 }1 J2 bfrom Global College to suitable alternative courses with a new provider, or to obtain a refund of course
! L# |5 r1 J7 y0 a: w5 K8 ymoney, depending on their circumstances.

Current Situation at Global College

The registration of vocational education and training (VET) courses for delivery by Global College Pty
& v7 a$ @9 x& [6 C6 _) x" _ E5 E
Ltd to overseas students has been cancelled under the New South Wales (NSW) Vocational Education

and Training Act.

• Global College must cease teaching these courses immediately
7 S3 T2 @+ @6 j0 ~, ?! y
• ELICOS or Schools courses have been suspended, but have not been cancelled. The

College may choose to continue to teach students currently enrolled in these courses.

However, the College can not enroll or commence new students.

Consumer Protection for Overseas Students
/ t$ @ r. \& S% b& b& r3 q& v3 K
The Australian Government has acted immediately to ensure that all affected students obtain the
3 g3 e/ w* w2 s7 z# ucomprehensive consumer protection provided for under Australian law which is specifically designed
5 a' h7 f$ N8 n9 ]to look after the interests of overseas students in these circumstances.
* S9 f, Y X( K$ R1 [* @. z- ?7 G0 o# N# |The consumer protection framework ensures that students receive the education they have paid for or,
! X; y! P& ?9 E) P: \5 k% I4 u1 w5 bwhere for some reason this might not be possible, a refund of their course money.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is aware of the situation and can advise and provide
9 ?5 `- C5 M; r* w) ?' s+ yadvice and assistance for all students in respect of their visas (see contact details below). DIAC will

There are two sessions.
% y, D) W8 ^0 E0 _2 G3 i4 X$ t ]• Session 1. If your surname (family name) begins with A to L, you should, if possible, arrive
; V, [/ ]" r) I3 f C, ^! pbetween 9am and 9:45 to register for a 10am commencement.

• Session 2. If your surname (family name) begins with M to Z, you should, if possible, arrive

between 1pm and 1:45 to register for a 2pm commencement.

This will greatly assist us fit everyone into the venue comfortably but if for some reason you can’t

make it at your nominated time, it is OK to come to the alternative session.
