This Information Sheet contains important NEW information to assist students at Global College Pty
Ltd. In particular, we want to invite all students and their guardians (where applicable) to a special;b0P(g4p!rYmU
meeting on Thursday 21 February 2008 to provide essential information to help students transition!cP+{G3[1N;Pn
from Global College to suitable alternative courses with a new provider, or to obtain a refund of course
money, depending on their circumstances.
Current Situation at Global CollegeMA:Y|+o0|Y V
The registration of vocational education and training (VET) courses for delivery by Global College Pty [ U5X;K!^0h4b
Ltd to overseas students has been cancelled under the New South Wales (NSW) Vocational Education
and Training Act.
• Global College must cease teaching these courses immediatelyE2N%C"W'{!]
• ELICOS or Schools courses have been suspended, but have not been cancelled. The
College may choose to continue to teach students currently enrolled in these courses.
However, the College can not enroll or commence new students.1HL~,gL3D v
Consumer Protection for Overseas Students
The Australian Government has acted immediately to ensure that all affected students obtain the
comprehensive consumer protection provided for under Australian law which is specifically designedt V.` F Y1h
to look after the interests of overseas students in these circumstances.] D ?0|-F
The consumer protection framework ensures that students receive the education they have paid for or,
where for some reason this might not be possible, a refund of their course money.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is aware of the situation and can advise and provide
advice and assistance for all students in respect of their visas (see contact details below). DIAC willH EPc"M'Ko

• The consumer protection framework under Australian law – i.e. how your interests will be
looked after and how to access assistance

There are two sessions.
• Session 1. If your surname (family name) begins with A to L, you should, if possible, arrive8c Z3dFy }
between 9am and 9:45 to register for a 10am commencement. oi-rF2Ze"tIa4J
• Session 2. If your surname (family name) begins with M to Z, you should, if possible, arrive(r u$wI[$V
between 1pm and 1:45 to register for a 2pm commencement.
This will greatly assist us fit everyone into the venue comfortably but if for some reason you can’t:g\3mo2o@u

On arrival you are requested to register to confirm your correct contact details. This will assist in

In the meantime, the main things to remember are:
• That you do not need to enroll yourself in another course at this time.
• You should make sure you attend one of the meetings on Thursday 21 February at the WesleyF0m~ Hy)~
Centre.
• You should regularly check the website below for updates on this situation, especially if you
are not yet in Australia.
• Pass this information on to your friends and classmates at Global College to make sure
everybody is fully informed of what is happening.
