Control and choices

How much control would you want over your life?  Discussing religion with a friend, I have found that one of the great reasons I’m not religious is that it’s something you can not control by mere logic.  Logical things can be predicted, planned, and thus controlled by your choices, even human psych to a certain degree can be manipulated or logically planned out so a desired outcome from certain interactions.  This however brings me to the next question of how much control I would want in my life.

How much control would you want over your life?  If every detail of the one you love, if every detail of your child’s personality/looks can be controlled, would you?  If you could control the family you were born into, or the amount of happiness you have, would you?  And in the end, do you think you would be happy?

Even though I know that having complete control would take the surprise out of life, and with it fun and excitement.  I can’t help but finding myself drawn towards knowing, and with it controlling of my own destiny.  Am I too greedy? Or merely too curious?  Both maybe… a little mixture of everything is how I like my life after all.

And so it is with patience I wait for the unknowns of my world.  The love, the marriage, the child, the finale.  I wait for my happiness, just as I wait for my ultimate demise.  I welcome the dizzying heights and the heart wrenching lows… So destiny, I await, I’m ready… Take me on the flight of life but be kind enough to me to allow me the illusion of control.
