freedom of speech

Why is it people have such a hard time with the idea of freedom of speech.  Why is it when their own speech is restricted they will rail up and fight for their own right, yet fail to do so when it involve others.

 

Why can't people understand that when you want freedom of speech, you have to advocate it for all.  Not just those who speak in your honor, but also those who speak against you.  How can you hypocritically stand there and stamp down any dissent with violence, when the shoe goes to the other foot you cry discrimination and ignorence? 

 

Freedom of speech is not about the right to say what you want, but the allowence to let all others express their feelings, even if it means it does not agree with you own.  If you can not understand that, then you do not deserve your own freedom of speech.
